Cheeky Rascalz is a private childminding business run by myself, Amanda Calloway. I am married to Neil who is also a fully registered Childminder. We have three children who attend local schools and colleges. The majority of the childcare is provided by Amanda but with the added flexibility of Neil's assistance for school runs, holidays and outings. In the past we have used the much valued services of a local childminder and so understand fully the needs of a family seeking child care. We live in a 3 bedroom house which is equipped with all the necessary safety adaptations for toddlers and young children. We do not have any pets.
We have both attained qualifications in Introduction to Childminding Practice, Paediatric First Aid and Basic Food Hygiene. I have also attended training workshops on Safeguarding Children, Child Behaviour and Language and Play. In June 2009 I completed an NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development along with an OCN accreditation in colloquial Welsh. I am currently studying for a Foundation Degree in The Care and Development of Babies and Young Children at Glyndwr University, both to continue my professional development and to enable me to provide the best quality child care in my setting. I am also a member of Flintshire's Children Come First Community and Early Years network and an accredited Flying Start Child Care provider. Individually we are each registered to care for 5 children under the age of 8, of which only 2 may be under 5 and no more than 2 under 18 months. When working together our registration allows us to care for 5 children under 8, all of which may be under 5, with no more than 4 under 18 months.
I aim to work in partnership with parents to provide all children in our care with a clean, safe, loving, home-like environment where everyone feels valued. Respect towards self, others and the environment will be emphasised. Children will be able to participate in a wide range of activities such as free play, cooking, outside play, stories, dramatic play, creative art, crafts, music and much more. Preschool children are also taken to visit both the English and Welsh local parent and toddler groups to give them the opportunity for social interaction with a larger group of children and to experience a bilingual environment.
I hope that the information in this website answers many of your questions. However, I know that it will not answer all of them and so I would like to invite you and your child/children to come and visit our family.
