Health & Safety Policy


Your child will be cared for in a clean, safe, secure and welcoming setting. I will provide an environment which will enable children to develop at a rate that is appropriate for their age and stage of development.

Appropriately furnished rooms are available for various activities. I have a lounge for quiet time and limited TV watching and a spacious kitchen for craft/messy play and supervised cooking. A travel cot will be provided upstairs if required with separate bed linen for each child. We also have a spacious fully enclosed rear garden with a range of outdoor toys including; a climbing frame, swing, slide, wooden playhouse, sandpit and a trampoline.

The following safety precautions are in place within my home:


Regular cleaning and checks of resources will be undertaken to ensure they are safe for you child to use


A daily risk assessment is carried out to ensure our setting is safe for your child


All plug sockets not in use have safety covers


Appropriate car seats are used and are checked regularly


I use safety equipment appropriate for the children in our care ie: stair gates, cupboard locks etc


All outside doors are kept locked whilst I am childminding; keys are kept high up next to each door


A fully stocked First Aid kit is available at all times


A fire blanket is available in the kitchen. Smoke alarms are fitted throughout the house and Fire Evacuation Procedures are in place


All visitors will be required to complete the visitors log


Food Hygiene Regulatiosn are strictly followed regarding the purchasing, transporting, storing and preparation of food


I carry emergency contact details with me at all times should parents need to be contacted in an emergency

  • Sleeping children will be regularly monitored and a listening device will also be used
              at all times
  • Our home is a non smoking household and this must be observed by parents when

              they are in our home
